On Wednesday 1st March our year 8 girls football team went to Cowes to play in the annual 6-a-side tournament.
They started the tournament well with a superb goal from Rhianna Vernon who stroked the ball past the keeper and as a result the girls won 1-0 against Cowes. In the second game the girls could only manage a frustrating 0-0 draw with CTK despite being the stronger team. In the third game against Medina Carisbrooke had to win in order to have a chance of taking the championship but Medina frustrated us once again and to make it double the frustration they put a goal past us with seconds to spare which meant they took the championship with a 1-0 over Carisbrooke. In the final game we played Sandown and lost 2-0 which meant we finished fourth overall despite a promising performance in three out of the four games played. The girls kept on playing throughout the tournament and were a credit to the school. The team consisted of Tori Rogers, Georgia Snudden, Bethan Stafford-Bowers, Rhianna Vernon, Mia Wragg, Isobel Outram, Emma Higgs and Ellie Ansell.
