WITH excitement growing for September when students in years 7, 8 and 9 will all begin their Mandarin studies, there has been lots of speculation around who the new teacher - joining us all the way from China - is going to be!

We are happy to announce that the new language assistant who will be working with Mr Briscoe in Mandarin lessons across the year groups is MISS YAN! 你好, 严老师!

Miss Yan, who is from Jiangsu province in the east of China, has sent the students at Carisbrooke a video message to introduce herself before she starts her new role:

Miss Yan will be present in lessons to help mainly with writing and speaking, and will also help to run China Club after school where she will introduce culture, assist with homework and provide extra help for those students taking the Mandarin GCSE. We are also hoping that she can give those attending the China trip in October some last minute tips and phrases to help when they land in Shanghai!
