History Diorama Competition Showcases Student Creativity

This year saw the launch of the first ever History Diorama Competition at Carisbrooke College. Students were challenged to bring historical moments to life through creative, detailed, and educational displays. The event was a tremendous success, drawing an impressive 38 entries from students across key stage 3 and even some very impressive staff entries!

From ancient civilisations to pivotal modern events, the dioramas reflected hours of research, craftsmanship, and imagination. Judged by Ms Begley, she praised the students’ thoughtful storytelling, innovative use of materials, and strong understanding of historical themes.

After much intensive deliberation, our winners were chosen and they are:
1st place - Amelia R for her thoughtful and sensitive Remembrance Day diorama

2nd place - Aysha CF for her incredible replica of Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii

Joint 3rd places - Pippa H for her creative depiction of Ancient Rome, Lula M for her outstanding Trojan Horse and finally Louis B for his detailed interpretation of the trenches in World War One.

The overall staff winner, much to his delight and for proudly putting his diorama at the very front of the room goes to Mr Peake. His Leicester City FC diorama reminded everyone that miracles don’t just happen on the pitch—they sometimes appear in cardboard and glue, too!

Congratulations to all who participated! Your hard work helped turn the Humanities Department into a miniature museum, and we look forward to seeing even more inspiring creations next year.
