Carisbrooke Cougars Year 7s Show Team Strength in Win Over The Bay Bears

The Carisbrooke Cougars Year 7 basketball team put together an impressive all-round performance to secure a well-earned 27–16 victory against The Bay Bears, who put up a strong fight. It was an entertaining and competitive contest, with both teams showing great effort and skill throughout.

For the first three quarters, the game was tightly contested, with neither side able to pull away as strong defence and determined attacking play kept the score close. The Bay Bears deserve real credit for their intensity and resilience, pushing the Cougars and making every basket hard-fought.

In the final quarter, Carisbrooke began to stretch out a lead thanks to more consistent shooting and excellent team play. Quick ball movement, strong rebounding, and smart decision-making allowed the Cougars to take control and close out the game confidently.

Joshua and Jenson led the scoring with 8 points apiece, with Joshua also rebounding well and attacking the basket aggressively. Jenson consistently pushed the pace and broke through the defence for numerous fast breaks. Seb contributed 4 points in one of his better shooting performances, while Reuben (2), Jack (2), Albie (2), and Sullivan (1) all added valuable points to the scoreboard.

There were strong contributions across the court. Thomas played an important role with excellent defensive pressure and well-timed assists. Jake rebounded strongly and broke up play effectively in the back court, repeatedly interrupting the opposition’s flow. Albie lived up to his reputation as the team’s “energiser bunny,” making his presence felt everywhere on the court. Jack found his shooting rhythm as the game progressed, growing in confidence with each quarter. Reuben continued his consistent form, making a constant positive impression alongside Albie at the top of the defence and Sullivan was able to break the defensive line consistently to set up some quick shots for the team.

Overall, it was a very pleasing team performance from the Cougars, built on effort and perseverance in their most challenging outing yet and a match that both sides can be proud of after a competitive and enjoyable game.  Both teams should feel confident when looking forward to the island tournament in March.

Well done to all involved.
