Sports Leadership training

Ten of our Year 10 students have recently taken part in a Sports Leadership training opportunity in Table Cricket.
We were delighted to welcome Martin from the Isle of Wight Cricket Board, who delivered an engaging and hands-on workshop introducing the rules, skills and inclusive values of Table Cricket. For some of the students, this was their first experience of being involved in a sports leadership project, having earned the opportunity through demonstrating excellent leadership skills in their BTEC Sport lessons — which was fantastic to see.
The students showed great enthusiasm as they developed their understanding of how to lead and officiate the game with confidence. Following their training, they put their new skills into action at St George's School, where they helped officiate the Island Table Cricket Tournament. They represented the school brilliantly and should be very proud of the leadership, maturity and professionalism they demonstrated throughout the event.
