Celebrating the contributions of the wonderful Miss Yan!

As the academic year begins to draw to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to express
our sincere appreciation to Miss Yan, who will soon be returning to China after spending the whole
year with us as Carisbrooke College’s Chinese Language Assistant.

Since joining us in September, Miss Yan has become an integral part of the Mandarin team. Her enthusiasm for learning and cultural exchange has enriched the experiences of students across the school, helping them develop confidence in spoken and written Chinese while providing invaluable support to our Year 11 students throughout their GCSE preparation.

Throughout her time with us, Miss Yan has demonstrated a remarkable ability to connect with students of all ages and abilities. She has approached every lesson with positivity and care, adapting her support to suit individual learning needs and encouraging students to challenge themselves. Whether working with beginners at KS3 who were taking their first steps in the language or helping more advanced learners in Years 10 and 11 refine their skills, she always ensured that each student felt valued and capable of success.

Beyond her expertise in the classroom, Miss Yan has shared her culture with generosity and enthusiasm, helping students gain a deeper understanding of life in China and strengthening the links between language learning and cultural awareness. Her friendly manner, patience, and genuine kindness have made her a popular and respected member of our school community.

The difference Miss Yan has made over the past year extends far beyond academic achievement. She has inspired confidence, supported personal growth, and created a positive learning atmosphere in which students felt comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their language skills.

Although we are sad to see her leave, we are incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed during her time at Carisbrooke. Her dedication, adaptability, and commitment to our students have left a lasting legacy, and we know she will continue to make a positive impact back in China, or wherever else her future takes her.

Yoyo, thank you for all your hard work, encouragement, and friendship throughout the year. We wish you every happiness and success as you begin your next adventure, and we sincerely hope to meet up with you again in the future on one of our school trips to China.

From Mr Briscoe and all the staff and students at Carisbrooke College.
