Gig in a Day – Activities Week 2026

Fifteen talented students from Years 7–10 took part in our ‘Gig in a Day’ event as part of Activities Week, spending the day rehearsing and preparing a fantastic live concert for the afternoon. The audience included 55 Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School, alongside many of our own students, creating a lively and supportive live music venue atmosphere.
The concert was particularly special as it featured debut performances from several Year 7 and 8 students, many of whom had never performed in front of a live audience before. Their confidence and enthusiasm shone through, performing alongside more experienced musicians from Years 8, 9 and 10.
The programme showcased an impressive variety of musical styles, including Shape of You, A Million Dreams, American Idiot, Too Little, Too Late, Two Birds on a Wire, Beggin', Be Quiet and Drive, and Chasing Sunsets. Students worked collaboratively throughout the day, demonstrating excellent teamwork, musicianship and courage as they transformed just a few hours of rehearsal into polished and engaging performances.
The event was a wonderful celebration of creativity and talent, and it was fantastic to share our students' achievements with visiting primary pupils, giving them a glimpse of the exciting musical opportunities available at Carisbrooke College.
