Carisbrooke College Students Shine at Songs of Place Concert

Seven talented students from Carisbrooke College took to the stage on Sunday 11 October to deliver an outstanding set of live music at the Songs of Place event, part of the Isle of Wight’s wider ‘Can you hear us?’celebration of creativity and culture.

The performances featured five Year 10 GCSE Music students and two Year 9 students from our school’s School of Rock club, who performed a fantastic selection of rock classics, including Teenagers by My Chemical Romance, Friday I’m in Love by The Cure, In Bloom by Nirvana and Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm.

The students performed with confidence, energy and musicality, delivering a memorable set that showcased their talent, commitment and passion for live music. Their performances were outstanding, and they proved to be a shining inspiration to the many younger primary school children watching, demonstrating the excitement, creativity and opportunities that come from learning and performing music.

The event celebrated young people’s creativity and the power of music to bring communities together, providing a valuable opportunity for young musicians from across the Island to come together to share their talents with a wider audience. Carisbrooke College performed as part of a varied programme of performances alongside fellow HISP school Medina College, some local primary schools, the Medina Marching Band and the Isle of Wight Youth Symphony Orchestra.

We are incredibly proud of all seven students for the enthusiasm, courage and professionalism they brought to the stage. They were wonderful ambassadors for the school and a brilliant example of how young people can inspire others through music.
