U13 and U15 girls' cricket teams take on Christ the King College

Carisbrooke Girls Shine in Spirited Clash at Ryde Cricket Club!
On an overcast afternoon on Thursday 15th May, our talented U13 and U15 girls cricket teams travelled to the picturesque Ryde Cricket Club to take on Christ the King and what a match it turned out to be!
For our U13s, it was a historic day, their very first game together as a team! Spirits were high, nerves were buzzing, and the energy was electric. After winning the toss, Captain Faye confidently chose to bowl first, and it wasn’t long before their teamwork started to shine.
The fielding was sharp, the bowling tidy, and everyone played their part in keeping Christ the King to a respectable 83 runs from their 12 overs. The standout moment? A sensational caught and bowled by Rebecca plucked straight out of the air like a pro! It was one of those “wow” moments that had the whole team buzzing.
Then came the chase! Amelia got us off to a flying start, smashing an unbeaten 18, including three glorious boundaries that had the crowd cheering. With the scoreboard ticking along at 54 for 3 from the first six overs, things were looking promising.
As the pressure built, Carisbrooke lost a few more wickets, but Rebecca returned with the bat to keep the momentum going. Her cool head and steady scoring gave us hope right until the final moments.
In a nail-biting finish, the match went right down to the wire. With just one over to spare and only a few runs needed, the final wicket fell, leaving Carisbrooke just short of the target, but with heads held high and smiles all around.
Special mentions go to Eva, Safiya, Esme, Nell, Norah, and Faye, who all played their hearts out and showed brilliant teamwork, enthusiasm, and determination throughout.
It was a fantastic first outing for our U13s, full of promise, passion, and potential. The future of girls' cricket at Carisbrooke is looking very bright indeed!
U15s Victory in Style! Carisbrooke Triumphs Over Christ the King
The energy was high, and the Carisbrooke girls were ready to shine!
After winning the toss, Tali led from the front by choosing to bowl first. And what a start it was! In her very first over, Tali picked up a wicket, setting the tone for what would be an exciting match. Despite a few frustrations, with 62 runs coming from extras, Carisbrooke's fielding was superb. There were no easy runs for Christ the King, and a brilliant run-out kept the pressure on. Thanks to their consistent efforts, Carisbrooke managed to restrict CTK to just 82 runs from their 12 overs.
Now, it was time for the chase. Rosie came out swinging from the get-go, hitting three boundaries in the first three balls she faced to race to 13 quick runs. Madi then took the baton and kept the scoreboard ticking with a solid 14 runs. Despite losing Lydia for just 1, Carisbrooke's batting remained strong, with Cerese taking charge. She played a brilliant innings of 32 not out after previously retiring on 15 and then returning towards the end of the innings after Carisbrooke lost the wickets of Evie, Daisy and Tilly, guiding her team confidently towards the target.
As the match neared its climax, Captain Tali kept the middle of the innings together with a composed 17 not out, ensuring that Carisbrooke stayed on top throughout. With three overs remaining, the target was well within reach, and the girls continued to play with confidence. Carisbrooke finished their 12 overs with a dominant total of 110 runs, securing a comfortable victory!
A huge well done to the team for their excellent all-round performance! This victory marks another important step forward for Carisbrooke's U15s as they continue to build momentum and show their strength as a team.
