'Ballet Shoes' at the National Theatre
Published 16/01/26On Wednesday 4 January, six of our students travelled up to The National Theatre to see a new adaptation of Noel Streatfield's 'Ballet Shoes' as part of the New Views play writing course. The play itself was spectacular and deeply thought provoking. The students were particularly impressed by the inventive set design and innovative projection and lighting. We are certain that this production will provide inspiration for their own plays that have to be submitted in March.
Next week we welcome back professional playwright Stewart Melton who will be running his final workshop. We are all very much looking forward to it.

Carisbrooke College Year 7 Boys 2nd Position in the annual indoor Football Tournament hosted by Medina College
Published 15/01/26The Carisbrooke Year 7 boys football team displayed a series of determined and skilful performances in their recent tournament, finishing with a commendable record of three wins out of four matches. The team showcased both attacking prowess and defensive resilience throughout the competition.
The tournament began with an exhilarating match against Medina. Carisbrooke emerged victorious with a 5-3 win. The goal scorers were Caleb (2), Reuben (2) and Albie (1).
In the second game, Carisbrooke College maintained their momentum with another high-scoring performance, defeating Christ the King College (CTK) 5-2. Reuben led the scoring with a hat-trick, and Albie added a brace.
The third game saw a narrow defeat for the Carisbrooke side against The Bay, with a final score of 4-3. The goals for Carisbrooke were scored by Reuben, Caleb and Albie.
The final match was a tight contest against Lift Ryde. Carisbrooke secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory, thanks to a superb hat-trick from Reuben.
Notable mentions go to several players for their exceptional contributions:
- Jenson was a rock in defence, playing every minute of every game with outstanding consistency.
- Sullivan, Kenan and Harry put in committed and tenacious performances in the midfield.
- Jack was excellent in goal, pulling off some outstanding saves that were crucial to the team's success.
Overall, it was a fantastic display of talent and teamwork from the Carisbrooke Year 7 boys, who can be proud of their efforts in the tournament.
