Year 7 Boys Football - Match Report

Carisbrooke 1 vs 9 Cowes Enterprise College
Tuesday 16 September

The Year 7 boys kicked off their very first game together on Tuesday, away to a strong Cowes Enterprise College side. Although the scoreline finished 1-9, there were plenty of positives, excitement and moments of real quality from this new Carisbrooke team.

The first half was a baptism of fire, with Cowes showing their finishing power to take a 4-0 lead into the break. But Carisbrooke never let their heads drop. In fact, the boys came out flying in the second half and it wasn’t long before Reuben smashed home our first goal of the season, a reward for the team’s hard work and determination. At 4-1, the momentum was briefly with Carisbrooke, and on another day the team could easily have had a couple more with the chances created.

Cowes showed their experience late on and added five more goals, but Carisbrooke battled to the very end and showed glimpses of what’s to come this season.

There were standout performances all over the pitch: Jenson was a rock at the back, making crucial interceptions and tackles. Albi was everywhere in midfield snapping into challenges, picking out passes, and driving the team forward with real energy. Jack bravely pulled on the gloves in the second half and made some great saves. Out wide, Kenan and Caleb caused problems with their strength and excellent deliveries, while Thomas impressed with some dangerous set-piece crosses.

This was the first time the boys had played together, and the commitment, spirit and teamwork shone through. The scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story, there’s real potential in this group, and with more games under their belt, this team will only grow stronger.

Well done, boys – an exciting journey has just begun!
