An inspirational evening watching the Lionesses!

Tuesday evening saw 36 students, Miss Dewey, Mr Peake, Mrs Jones and Mr Lyle travel to Southampton's St Marys Football stadium straight after school to watch the England Lionesses play against Ghana in the international friendlies.
For some of our students, this was their first experience witnessing the Lionesses play, or live sport generally, and the girls were all completely immersed in the experience.
With our seats tucked out of the rain and a clear view of the goal line, we were lucky enough to witness England's first goal up close and personal with England players running up to celebrate next to our corner flag in the first six minutes. We also witnessed several close shots on target at our goal end before half time. The game ended 2-0 with a handball in the box from Ghana, allowing the legendary Russo to step up and take the penalty.
Carisbrooke students were fantastic from start to finish and were a real credit to the school, especially when walking through a very busy and dark Southampton to and from the ferry.
Thank you to the girls' parents who all managed to get them to the ferry for a quick turn after school to allow us to catch the 4:45 ferry! A great night was had by all!
