Year 7 Celebrate 'Bookbuzz' Book Day

Yesterday morning, our Year 7 students were excited to receive their chosen Bookbuzz books, marking a fantastic moment in our school’s reading journey.
Our school is proud to take part in Bookbuzz, a national reading programme run by BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. The programme is all about inspiring a love of reading by giving students the opportunity to choose a book that truly interests them, and best of all, the book is theirs to keep.
BookTrust research shows that reading regularly boosts wellbeing, sparks imagination, inspires creativity, and encourages great conversations. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm from students as they collected their books and began reading straight away.
To keep the reading momentum going, students have ongoing access to our school library, which offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction to suit all interests. In addition, students can explore SORA, our digital library platform, where they can borrow eBooks and audiobooks anytime, anywhere — perfect for reading on the go.
We encourage families to get involved by chatting with students about their Bookbuzz book, asking about favourite characters or moments, and celebrating their reading achievements. Once a book is finished, there are plenty more great reads to discover through our library, SORA, or BookTrust’s Bookfinder at booktrust.org.uk/bookfinder.
For more ideas, reading tips, and book recommendations, families can visit booktrust.org.uk, follow @BookTrust on social media, or sign up for their family newsletters.
We hope the Bookbuzz book giveaway is the start of many exciting reading adventures for our Year 7 students!
