Year 11s final football competition this school year

On Thursday, our year 11 boys went over to Cowes Enterprise College to take part in the final football competition of the school year.  The tournament was organised by Mr Dye from Medina College and hosted by Mr Hughes at Cowes Enterprise College, so a big thank you to both of you for giving our students this opportunity.

The boys played their games in the right spirit and worked hard for each other throughout the evening.  The boys played three games, winning their first game of the night 3-0 against Cowes thanks to two goals from Shai and a thunderbolt from Theo. In the second game, the boys continued to look like scoring more goals, but in the end the game finished 0-0 for Medina.  This meant they had one more game against a second Cowes team as both teams had won their groups.  In this game, Cowes were on top throughout but could not breach our determined defenders as Dan, Charlie and Lucas stayed strong and put in tackle after tackle and threw themselves in front of every shot just as they had done so during every game.  However, with only a few seconds left, the ball came through to Thomas in goal and as he went to clear his lines, the ball pinged off our own player and went back over his head and into the goal to give Cowes the final win of the night.

Despite the finish, the boys did the school proud and, as ever, it was a pleasure to take this group of boys who have always been an entertaining bunch across the PE department.  Well done to our other players on the night, Jack, Oscar (Captain) and Brandon who played his first game for the school after joining us this year on a free transfer.  A special mention for Max, who became the stand-in manager for the night and remained positive (mostly) throughout.
