A huge well done to our 20 Year 9 Sports Leaders, who represented the school brilliantly yesterday at Ventnor Cricket Club while leading a cricket festival for pupils from St Catherine's and Forest Edge. We were fortunate to enjoy sunny weather this time, a welcome change from the downpours at the previous festival. Having already experienced leading a similar event, our Sports Leaders approached the day with much greater confidence and independence. It was particularly pleasing to see some of our quieter leaders step forward, take on more responsibility and really grow into their leadership roles. 

Throughout the day, our students demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, confidence and teamwork. During the morning, they successfully organised and delivered eight cricket skills stations, ensuring every pupil was encouraged to participate, develop and showcase their skills. They showed excellent leadership skills by adapting activities on the spot, creating an inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone. In the afternoon session, the leaders took responsibility for setting up and officiating a series of cricket games, and joining in when required.

The feedback from the event was extremely positive, with our Sports Leaders praised for their efforts and encouragement. They should all be incredibly proud of the way they represented themselves and Carisbrooke College.

Well done to all involved on a fantastic day of leadership. We would also like to extend our thanks to the Isle of Wight Cricket Board for providing our students with another opportunity to develop their communication, organisation and teamwork skills, and to our parents and guardians for transporting the leaders to and from Ventnor, helping to make the event possible.
