World Book Day 2025

World Book Day at Carisbrooke College
Carisbrooke College celebrated World Book Day last week. Students attended assemblies on this year’s theme, Read Your Own Way, and discovered the many benefits of reading for pleasure. On the day itself, Key Stage 3 students had a thrilling story read to them in five parts over the day, discovering who was The Man with the Yellow Face.
In the lead up to World Book Day, students were given Book Tokens to use in local shops to obtain the £1 special edition books. The Library also had a stock of books to give to students.
A number of competitions were also run over the week and prizes will be presented during assemblies next week. Here is an example of an entry into our book character potato decorating competition!
A Cluedo-Style Challenge
Students were challenged to solve the crime of Harry Potter’s murder in a Cluedo style challenge.
Members of staff had clues on their lanyards that students had to collect. They had to work out the SUSPECT, METHOD and LOCATION of the murder.
All correct answers went into a draw for a £20 voucher and the winner was Shannon. Tutor group 7C won a tub of chocolates to share as 75% of them entered the competition, which was the highest across the college. Well done!
