The 2025 basketball season has been one of thrilling matches, standout performances, and commendable team spirit across all year groups at Carisbrooke College. Our Carisbrooke Cougars showcased grit and determination in every tournament, earning respect from schools across the Isle of Wight. Here's a year-by-year breakdown of how our teams fared this season:

Year 7 Tournament
Our youngest Cougars made an impressive start to their secondary basketball journey. Battling through a highly competitive field, they secured a solid third-place finish behind The Bay and Christ the King (CTK). With 3 wins and 2 losses, the team accumulated 6 points, showing promising talent and teamwork.

Highlights:
- Narrow victories over Cowes A and B.
- Strong effort against the top two sides, pushing them close in both games.

Year 8 Tournament
The Year 8 Cougars demonstrated excellent development and cohesion, delivering their strongest tournament performance yet. With 5 wins and 2 losses, they finished third overall, closely trailing dominant sides CTK and The Bay.

Highlights:
- Impressive wins over Ryde School and TIFS.
- A well-earned 10 points that reflect both consistency and potential for next season.

Year 9 Tournament
In a tightly contested Year 9 tournament, our Cougars faced fierce opposition and finished joint fourth, tied with TIFS at 2 wins and 3 losses (4 points). Despite the record, the team’s commitment and competitive edge remained evident in every game.

Highlights:
- Solid victories that showcased sharp passing and tenacious defending.
- Valuable experience gained against top sides Ryde and The Bay.

Year 10 Tournament
Our Year 10 squad faced a challenging tournament, coming up against some of the strongest basketball programs in the region. Although the results didn’t go our way, the team remained spirited throughout.

Highlights:
- Gutsy performances despite results, with narrow losses showing the team's resilience.
- Determination and positive attitude, laying a strong foundation for their final year.
- Shai's two straight three point baskets from way outside the three point line.

Year 11 Tournament
The Year 11 Cougars ended their Carisbrooke basketball journey on a high note, claiming an unbeaten championship title in a round-robin format! With 3 wins from 3 games, the team secured first place in dominant fashion.

Highlights:
- Convincing victories against CTK, Ryde A, and The Bay.
- A fitting finale for a talented and committed group of players.
- Jim and Matthew making it a one-two punch which was unstoppable.

Overall Standings
Across all year groups, the Carisbrooke Cougars finished a credible third overall, earning 26 points from 25 games. With standout performances from our Year 8 and Year 11 teams and strong contributions from younger squads, the Cougars have proven themselves as one of the island’s most competitive basketball programs.
