Geography Field Trip to Sandown Beach
Despite the wet and blustery weather, our recent geography field trip to Sandown Beach on the Isle of Wight was a great success. Braving the elements, 43 enthusiastic students set out to investigate coastal processes and the impact that coastal management is having on people and the local environment.
The students showed great resilience and focus throughout the day, diligently collecting data, sketching field diagrams, and engaging thoughtfully with their surroundings. It was encouraging to see such curiosity and teamwork, even as the wind whipped across the beach and the rain fell steadily.
We would like to thank Mrs O'Callaghan Mr Burnett and Mr Peake who came along and supported the students throughout the day – your guidance and encouragement were invaluable. They helped carry equipment, keep spirits high, and ensure the day ran smoothly, despite the challenging conditions.
Most importantly, thank you to our students for your excellent behaviour, positive attitude, and hard work. You represented the school brilliantly, and we hope the experience has helped bring your classroom learning to life. We’re proud of how you handled the day (particularly the cold wind!), and we look forward to more successful fieldwork in the future.
