Subject Intent: Mandarin connects students directly with foreign culture and international communication, opening doors far beyond our coastal borders. At Key Stage 3, Mandarin fosters a potentially lifelong command of a vital world language and a deep appreciation for Chinese culture and history. At Key Stage 4, core linguistic structures, radical systems, and cultural themes—like family, technology, and global sustainability—are revisited in increasingly complex contexts.

Assessment Framework: AQA GCSE Mandarin (8673) is assessed through four equally weighted exam papers in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. There is no coursework.
