It has been another busy and rewarding week in school.
On Thursday evening, it was wonderful to welcome so many Year 10 parents into school. I would like to thank parents for their continued support and engagement, and extend a particular thank you to our teaching staff, who gave their time and energy to ensure the evening was informative, supportive and positive for all involved.
Earlier in the week, a group of Year 9 students received their teenage booster vaccinations. These vaccinations play an important role in keeping our school community healthy, and we greatly value the support of parents in enabling this to take place. The students were exemplary throughout, and I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the School Nursing Vaccinations Team for their professionalism and care. If your child missed this session, another is being planned and details will be shared at a later date.
Our Year 10 students have also enjoyed some fantastic enrichment opportunities. Music students took part in a Creative Careers workshop on “Commercial Music” at Platform One, which was an inspiring and eye-opening experience. The feedback from students was extremely positive, and my thanks go to Miss Peckham for organising such an excellent opportunity.
In Design Technology, students participated in the “Tools for Creative Thinking” workshop delivered by Johnson Electric. This was a highly engaging session that challenged students to think innovatively and creatively. Thank you to Miss Bracegirdle for organising this valuable experience.
As always, there have been numerous sporting fixtures taking place, with students representing the school superbly. Thank you to the PE Department for their ongoing commitment and enthusiasm in providing these opportunities.
Looking ahead to next week, we are excited to have a team competing in the Faraday Challenge at Christ the King College, and on Thursday a group of students will be travelling to London to the British Film Institute to take part in a Mandarin Study Day. Also, on Thursday, music/drama students will travel to Brighton to see a performance of Blood Brothers.
Earlier in the week you will have received a copy of our new Parent/Carer Code of Conduct Policy. You can read this by clicking here. We do encourage you to have a look at this document and if you have any queries, please contact the school.
Finally, a reminder that there will be some half-term revision sessions for Year 11 students. Parents/carers of those students invited have already been informed, and we strongly encourage students to take advantage of this additional support.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the school.
