Feel Good Friday

Research shows that 1 in 5 children and young people (aged 8–16) in England had a probable mental health disorder in 2023. (NHS England). 5.5% of 11–16 year olds say they often or always feel lonely and that figure rises to nearly 12% for ages 17–22.  Only 51% of young people in the UK felt they belonged in their local community. Loneliness is strongly linked with poorer emotional wellbeing.  Young people with probable mental health challenges are much more likely to feel lonely compared with those without. This week we have spent our assemblies and tutor time sessions thinking about our CASTLE value of ‘Teamwork’ and the importance of ‘belonging’. Belonging matters.

Year 9 student wins international boxing title

We’re incredibly proud to share that Year 9 student, Bobby, who boxes with Phoenix Amateur Boxing Club, has won an international boxing title at the New Era Boxcup held in Braintree. Bobby showed amazing skill and determination throughout the competition and his success is a brilliant achievement at such a young age.  Congratulations and well done Bobby!
