Weekly Updates from the Head of School

We were delighted to welcome our students back for the new half term and trust that everyone had a refreshing break.

Firstly, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all staff and students who dedicated their time during the holiday period to attend revision sessions. This commitment demonstrates the dedication of our team and students and will significantly contribute to their success in the upcoming GCSE exams.

On Monday, Miss Peckham, alongside visitors from the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), hosted an Exam Stress Workshop. The session was well-attended, and students enjoyed both the donuts and the invaluable tips shared by MHST on maintaining good mental health and well-being during the exam period.

This week, and continuing into next, our Year 11 Food and Nutrition students have been participating in their GCSE practical exams. The three-course meals they have prepared have been excellently presented, and I am informed that they have been equally delicious. Well done to all students for their hard work and dedication!

Next Thursday, we will host our Year 9 Options Evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This event will provide parents and carers of Year 9 students with the opportunity to visit subject areas, engage with subject-specific staff, and view displays that outline what each subject involves. We will also provide further information about the options process and what to expect moving forward. We strongly encourage you to attend, as this evening is a crucial part of your child’s progression into Key Stage 4 and the selection of their examination subjects.

On Friday, we are fortunate to welcome STEM Consultant Cristina Astin, who will speak to our Year 8 and 9 girls to inspire them to consider careers in STEM. A special thanks to Mrs Gove for organising this exciting opportunity for our students.

For your information, the schedule for your child’s learning in PSHE for this half term can be found by clicking this link.

Before half term we sent out an email requesting that parents/carers complete our school survey.  Thank you to those that have already completed this.  If you have not yet completed the form, we would be very grateful if you could take five minutes to do so using this link.  Parent/Carer survey February 2022.  The closing date is midnight tonight.  Feedback is extremely helpful to the Leadership Team, Academy Committee and our Trust in order to evaluate the lived experience of our students and parents/carers.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead.

Feel Good Friday

✨KINDNESS✨

Every time we act with kindness, we are helping to make the world a better place! Kindness should be at the heart of every community. Kindness has been shown to have benefits for our mental health because of the positive effects it has on our self-esteem, relationships and outlook. Look out for next week's feel good Friday post for lots of ideas about how we can show kindness as we go about each day!
