Weekly Updates from Carisbrooke College

What a week it has been!

We’ve just completed our Year 10 trial exams, and I’d like to say a huge well done to all the students who approached them with such maturity and focus. Staff are now busy marking the papers, and the results will help us identify where any additional support or guidance is needed as students begin preparing for their final GCSE exams next summer.

Yesterday, we hosted our inter-school horse jumping competition; a big thank you to Miss Begley for organising such a fantastic event. Results will be shared in the coming days, so stay tuned!

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, a group of music students from Carisbrooke joined the London Sinfonietta for an island-wide school concert at Medina College. Miss Peckham and our students had been rehearsing tirelessly, and the result was an outstanding performance. You can find more highlights and photos in the news link below and on our social media channels.

Also on Tuesday, Miss Bracegirdle organised for a group of students to take part in a virtual cooking class with Jamie Oliver. This was an attempt to break the record for the largest cookery class ever taught online. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, and the students were fantastic throughout. We’re eagerly waiting to hear if the attempt was successful.  Watch this space! More information is available in the news link below and on our social media.

And of course, on Thursday evening, we held our Awards Evening. What a spectacular and moving event it was. It was truly heartwarming to see families, students, and staff come together to celebrate the achievements of our learners. Watching students’ faces as their teachers read out their nominations with pride, admiration, and genuine connection, was a real highlight. Thank you to everyone who attended, and congratulations once again to all of our award winners. Event photos will be shared on our social media early next week and individual photos will be emailed to relevant parents/carers.

Looking ahead to next week:
Tuesday is Transition Day – our new Year 6 students will be joining us for the day to get their first taste of life at secondary school. That evening, we’ll also be welcoming students and their parents to discuss final preparations for their journey into Key Stage 3/4 in September.

Wednesday is Sports Day – good luck to all students taking part! A big thank you to the PE department for their hard work in planning and delivering this important day.

Thursday is our Year 7 Parents’ Evening – if you haven’t yet booked your appointments, please do so via the Arbor App.

A reminder that Year 8 Parents’ Evening takes place on Wednesday 17 July, and bookings for that are also available on Arbor. If you encounter any issues, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

For your information, school will begin Wednesday 3 September after the school holidays for all year groups 7 - 11. All term dates for next year can be found on our website here.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
