Another busy and very warm week!
This week has been packed with exciting events and activities as we approach the end of the term. On Tuesday, we welcomed our new Year 7 students for a day of exploration. They had the opportunity to sample various lessons and seemed to fully embrace the excitement of secondary school life. That evening, they returned with their parents for an information session, preparing for their start in September. It was a very successful evening, with tasters from our canteen, a chance to meet their tutors, and presentations from a range of staff, including our mental health leads. We're all excited to see them join us in September!
Wednesday brought our annual Sports Day for Years 7, 8, and 9, and it was truly a fantastic day. The atmosphere was full of energy, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Students and staff alike threw themselves into the events, making it an event to remember. A big thank you to the PE department for organising such a successful day.
On Thursday, a group of Year 10 students visited the Island VI Form for a taster day, helping them make informed decisions about their post-secondary school pathways. They all embraced the new educational environment with enthusiasm.
Also on Thursday, another group of students travelled to Chichester for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Despite the soaring temperatures, they had a fantastic time. Thank you to Mr Peake for organising this exciting trip!
In the evening, we held our Year 7 Parents’ Evening, and we were pleased to see excellent attendance. Both parents and students found the evening informative. Unfortunately, some teachers were unavailable or fully booked, so if you didn’t manage to speak with your child’s teacher, please contact reception, and we’ll be happy to arrange an update.
Looking ahead to next week, we have even more planned. Year 8 and 9 students will visit Robin Hill on Wednesday, followed by the Year 8 Parents’ Evening on Thursday. Friday will see a group of students attending a trip to watch a performance of NYE at the National Theatre, and year 7 will enjoy a fun day out at Splashdown!
As the weather is expected to remain warm, we will continue with PE kit for uniform next week. Should the temperature cool, we will notify parents via email if we decide to revert back to full uniform.
Just a final reminder: school finishes for the summer holidays at 12:35 pm on Friday 25 July. The school buses will be available early for students, except for the number 68 bus. Students on this route will need to use the 8 from the Bus Station.
It’s been a wonderful week of learning, fun, and growth. We look forward to finishing the term on a high note!
