Weekly Updates from Carisbrooke College

As we come to the end of our penultimate week, it's been another incredibly busy and rewarding few days!

On Wednesday, our Year 8 and 9 students enjoyed a fantastic trip to Robin Hill. Their behaviour was exemplary throughout the day, and we were delighted to receive a call from a member of the public who praised the students for being polite, pleasant, and consistently kind and considerate. We are extremely proud of how they represented our school.

Thursday was just as action-packed. Our Einstein students had a fun-filled day at Blackgang Chine, blessed with plenty of sunshine. Meanwhile, a group of our Year 10 and 11 students took part in an inspiring work experience day at Platform One College of Music. They were joined by fellow Year 10 students from Medina College for a day full of creativity, collaboration, and musical energy. A huge thank you to Miss Peckham for organising this enriching experience.

Today, our Year 7 students are enjoying their visit to Splashdown, and this afternoon, 46 students are heading to the National Theatre in London to watch a performance of Nye. We hope they have a fantastic time.

Thursday evening saw our Year 8 Parents’ Evening. Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended, and as always, to our dedicated staff who made time to meet with them. We hope everyone found the evening informative and helpful.

Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited to host our celebration assemblies, recognising students for their hard work and determination this term. On Wednesday, we will also hold our Summer Creative Showcase at Carisbrooke Castle, starting at 6:30 PM. All are welcome to attend. There will be musical performances and a display of artwork from our many talented students. We’d love to see you there!

Please keep an eye out for a letter going out on Monday with important information about end of year arrangements.

Finally, as the weather is expected to cool and rain is forecast, we will be returning to full school uniform next week. Friday will be mufti-day. I will send more details about the end of term, and start of new term plans, on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend!

Feel Good Friday

This week, 22 student volunteers from Year 9 met with Mrs Peckham to launch our 'Peer Education Project' (PEP) and Mental Health Ambassadors scheme. The Peer Education Project (PEP), run by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), is a school-based initiative where older students are trained to deliver mental health education to younger students and take on the role of Mental Health Ambassadors in our school community. The programme focusses on building awareness, understanding, and practical strategies for supporting mental health and wellbeing.
