Weekly Updates from Carisbrooke College

Welcome back to a brand new school year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer break. It’s been wonderful to welcome our students back with the launch of our new school motto ‘Education is Our Castle’.

A very special welcome goes to our new Year 7 students, who have made an excellent first impression. Transitioning to secondary school is a big step, but we’ve already seen so many of them approaching each day with courage, which is one of our new CASTLE values. If you have any questions or concerns during these early weeks, Year 7 parents are encouraged to contact Mrs Lythgoe, or your child’s tutor, who will be happy to help.

We begin this year on a high, following a fantastic set of exam results over the summer. Good grades open doors, and we are so proud of the destinations of our Year 11s. Our students did especially well in their mathematics exams with nearly 75% getting a Grade 4 or above and around 50% of the grades being a strong pass (Grade 5). For the parents of our new Year 11s, interventions to help close learning gaps will soon begin.

We recently received this kind feedback from a parent — we’re always truly grateful for messages like these: "My son had struggled, been part of SEND and predicted fairly low grades at primary.  However, I cannot praise Carisbrooke College enough for 'the support and encouragement', 'the way he has been spoken to as a person' and 'the revision sessions prior to his exams' he has come on leaps and bounds and I couldn't be prouder of what he has accomplished.  I tell anyone who will listen what a wonderful college you are!"

Finally, I would like to congratulate Miss Peckham on successfully completing and passing her Senior Mental Health Lead training.

Please keep an eye on our website, social media pages and communications from school via Arbor with updates, information and extra-curricular activities.  You can see the menu for our canteen here - a delicious meal deal is only £3.30!

Lost Property

Please ensure that you have labelled all items of your child's uniform and equipment, including coats and water bottles. We have already had brand new items handed in with no names, which makes it very difficult for us to reunite items with the correct students. Thank you.

Year 7 Trip to Tapnell Aqua Park

This optional trip will take place for students in Year 7 on Thursday 18 September. Details can be found here.

Alumni Beach Soccer Success -  Representing England!

Huge congratulations to Jim Denness and Euan St-John Biggs - Carisbrooke College alumni (last year's Year 11) who recently represented England at the International Beach Soccer Cup in Porto and were undefeated throughout the tournament.

This is a fantastic achievement and an honour for them to represent at such a high level. We are very proud!
