Weekly Updates from Carisbrooke College

I must start by saying what an incredible evening we had at our recent Open Evening!  The school was absolutely buzzing with energy as we welcomed approximately 360 families through our doors. It was wonderful to see so many prospective students and their families exploring what our school has to offer.

From the moment the evening began, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. Our dedicated staff and enthusiastic current students did a fantastic job showcasing our facilities, sharing their experiences, and making everyone feel at home. It was particularly lovely to meet so many Year 6 pupils, who threw themselves into the activities and seemed to really enjoy their first experience of life at our school.  We are incredibly proud of the positive feedback we’ve received, and it’s a real testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in making the evening such a success.

Evenings such as these can only be such a great success because of those involved.  A huge thank you to our staff, student volunteers, our Canteen Staff, the School Pastors, School Admissions, MHST, and of course, the families who came to visit us.

A reminder that flu vaccinations will be taking place in school next week. Please be aware that no child will be vaccinated without prior consent, so it is essential that parents and carers complete and return the necessary consent forms as soon as possible. If you haven’t received one or need support, please contact the school reception.

We’re excited to be holding our Year 7 Disco on Tuesday evening to celebrate the fantastic start our newest students have made in joining the school community. It’s a great opportunity for them to relax, have fun, and spend time getting to know each other outside of lessons.

The group of excited students and staff are heading off on the China trip next week! This promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, packed with culture, history, and unforgettable memories. We look forward to following their adventures on social media and the amazing stories when they return.  I’m sure you will join me in wishing them a safe and enjoyable trip.

Have a lovely weekend.

World Mental Health Day - Friday 10 October 2025

💛 We are saying #HelloYellow on 10 October for World Mental Health Day! Students can wear mufti (including something yellow) instead of their uniform for a £1 donation (paid on Arbor) to the charity, YoungMinds. Alongside this, we will be holding a Healthy Minds Fair during break and lunchtime on the same date, with various activities and free fresh fruit! This event will also see the launch of our new cohort of Year 10 Mental Health Ambassadors. Look out for more details in our #FeelGoodFriday next week!

Anger Management in Children - NSPCC

Every year many thousands of children are referred to Childline for anger issues. Anger management in children is one of the top mental health concerns in childcare. Anger and the ability to control it are key skills of adulthood. Violent thoughts frequently bubble underneath human interactions. Anger is the quickest way for those thoughts to become reality. For this reason, it is tightly regulated in our society. Children must learn to overcome anger so that they do not fall foul of strict controls on violent conduct. However, this is difficult for children to learn to manage since anger is remarkably powerful. Yet, as parents and teachers, there is no choice but to teach them to reign these emotions in. This can be hard knowledge to impart, but the NSPCC has produced helpful resources to aid you in that vital mission.
