Weekly Updates from Carisbrooke College

Today we were delighted to host a bright colours mufti day in celebration of the visit from the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir. The students looked fantastic in their colourful outfits and absolutely loved the experience.

During the day, the choir ran workshops with our students, sharing stories about life and education in Uganda. It was an inspiring and joyful event that broadened our students’ understanding of global communities and the power of music to connect people.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, wore bright colours, and contributed. Your support helps the Pearl of Africa Child Care charity continue their important work supporting schools, orphanages and clinics in Uganda. It truly was an amazing day and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.  Thank you to Miss Peckham for organising the event.

A reminder that our Year 11 Parents’ Evening will take place on Wednesday 4 December. Appointments can be booked via Arbor, and the evening will provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and next steps as we approach the most crucial part of the academic year. If you have any queries or difficulties with booking, please contact donna.godfrey@carisbrooke.iow.sch.uk, who will be happy to assist.

The flu vaccination mop-up session will take place on Wednesday 3 December for students who were unable to receive the vaccine earlier in the year.

Our Year 8 girls have a fantastic opportunity on Tuesday 2 December, when they will travel to Southampton to watch the international women’s football match between England and Ghana. This promises to be both inspiring and memorable for those attending.  Thank you to Mrs Dewey for arranging such an exciting event.

To celebrate our students’ excellent achievements in Table Tennis and Climbing a couple of weeks ago, they will enjoy a special celebration breakfast in school on Monday.  We are incredibly proud of the hard work, sportsmanship, and determination shown by them all. Congratulations to all involved and to the PE Department for their dedication to the many extra-curricular sporting activities they offer.

Have a lovely weekend.

Feel Good Friday

We were delighted to welcome The Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir today for performances and workshops. The choir is part of a UK-based charity supporting schools in southern Uganda, giving children education, care, and a safe place to grow.

Their mission goes beyond music: they fundraise for essentials like education, health, food, and clean water. By sharing their stories, the choir raises awareness of the challenges children in Uganda face and encourages conversations about resilience and well-being.

The charity aims to “break the cycle of poverty … by investing in education, health, water and sustainable food programmes.” This week’s visit is our #feelgoodfriday highlight: FGF: 28 November 2025
