Weekly Updates from Carisbrooke College

This last week of term, along with lessons running as normal, it has been a pleasure to see our school community come together in a spirit of generosity, celebration and shared enjoyment.

The Christmas Concert at Newport Minster was a memorable evening. Students performed with confidence and it was lovely to see parents, carers, staff and visitors coming together to share in the celebration and festive spirit.  Well done to all of the talented performers and to Miss Peckham for organising such a joyous occasion.

Our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday was gratefully received, and the amazing canteen staff worked hard to create an enjoyable and festive meal. The dining hall was filled with a cheerful atmosphere, and it was a pleasure to see students fully embracing the occasion.

Today’s Mufti Day was thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff alike. In addition to the more relaxed atmosphere, the day supported important causes, with funds raised for our local Pastors and donations collected for the Food Bank. We are extremely grateful to our school Pastors, who offer weekly free support to our students and play such a valuable role in our community.  I would also like to extend sincere thanks to Blackgang Chine for their extremely generous contribution to the foodbank, which was greatly appreciated.

The Santa Dash today was a real highlight. It was encouraging to see so many students taking part with enthusiasm and good humour, making the event a joy to watch and a positive experience for all involved.  Thank you to Mrs Peake for organising the event and, in total, raising over £1250 for The Wight Brainy Bunch!

And finally, the Staff Panto… words hardly do it justice. It certainly provided plenty of laughter and demonstrated, once again, the willingness of staff to engage wholeheartedly in school life for the benefit of our students.  Thank you to all who took part on stage and behind the scenes and, in particular, to Mr Lyle for directing our staff in such a fun-filled performance.

All that remains is to wish you all a very joyful and festive holiday season, filled with happiness, warmth and good cheer. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday 5 January for another exciting term.
