This week we introduced our new 24 hour alert to a lunchtime or after school restorative detention. Messages were sent home in advance to ensure that all families are aware of the expectations and procedures. Our aim is to provide a clear, fair and consistent framework that supports every student in making positive choices and creating a calm, respectful learning environment. We very much appreciate the ongoing support from parents and carers when behaviour issues arise. Working in partnership with home is one of the most effective ways to help young people reflect, learn and move forward successfully.
On Wednesday there was a trip for 51 students to see Miss Saigon at the Mayflower Theatre, organised by Mrs Peckham. The show was thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff, and the students were a credit to the school in both their conduct and enthusiasm. Opportunities such as these are invaluable in broadening cultural experiences and inspiring an appreciation for the performing arts beyond the classroom.
A group of our students recently participated in the Peer Education Project training for Mental Health Ambassadors at Island VI Form. Their participation, maturity and engagement throughout the training were excellent. It is always encouraging to see students volunteering their time to develop skills that will allow them to support the wellbeing of their peers. Being involved in initiatives like this not only benefits the wider school community but also helps students build confidence, empathy and leadership qualities.
Thursday evening’s Year 7 Tutor Evening was very well attended and proved to be a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to meet with tutors, discuss progress and receive key information about the year ahead. We appreciate the positive feedback and the strong partnership we continue to build with families through these events.
Looking ahead, our Year 10 Parents’ Evening will take place next Thursday. There is still time to book appointments via the Arbor app, and we strongly encourage all parents and carers to attend if possible. If you have any difficulties with booking these appointments, please contact the school. These meetings provide an important chance to review academic progress, discuss targets and ensure students are fully supported as they move closer to their GCSE exams. We look forward to welcoming you then.
Have a lovely weekend.
